Most front-load washers have a small access door at the bottom front hiding a threaded filter cartridge. It exists to catch everything that would otherwise wreck the drain pump, which means it fills up and blocks. Cleaning it is a genuine owner job that takes five minutes and resolves a large share of drain complaints — put a shallow tray and a towel down first, because there will be a surprising amount of water behind it.
