📖 GLOSSARY · PART
What is a food chopper?
A small blade that grinds food debris so it can drain away — jams loudly on glass or bones.
Dishwashers with hard food disposal use a small rotating blade to break debris down small enough to pass into the drain. It means less filter cleaning, which suits households that do not rinse before loading. When something hard gets in — a shard of glass, a cherry stone, a bone fragment — the noise is alarming and sounds far more expensive than it is. Inspect the sump before quoting a pump on a noisy dishwasher.
