📖 GLOSSARY · CONCEPT
What is a supersession?
When a manufacturer replaces a part number with an updated one — the old number still works for searching.
Manufacturers revise parts and retire numbers constantly. A superseded number is not wrong so much as historical: ordering it will normally get you the current replacement, and searching it still finds the right part. This is why repair guides list both. It also means a part number published today can quietly become obsolete, so it is always worth checking that a number is still current before ordering — especially on a part you found in an older guide.
