What is a supersession?

Manufacturers revise parts and retire numbers constantly. A superseded number is not wrong so much as historical. Ordering it will normally get you the current replacement, and searching it still finds the right part. This is why repair guides list both. It also means a part number published today can quietly become obsolete, so it is always worth checking that a number is still current before ordering, especially on a part you found in an older guide.
