The four seasons of a washer's life
Infant failures (mostly covered)
Factory defects show early — a bad lock, a leaky valve. Most are warranty work; your out-of-pocket is usually zero. Register the machine and keep the receipt.
The wear-item season
The first real repairs: shift actuators, lid locks, drain pumps, inlet valves, suspension. All cheap, all worth doing without hesitation. Expect one or two visits in this window.
The judgment window
Second-round wear repairs are still fine — but this is when bearings, gearcases, and boards start appearing in quotes. One big-ticket item is usually survivable; two means the machine is telling you something.
