📖 GLOSSARY · PART
What is a gas valve coils?
Solenoids that open a gas dryer’s burner valve; they fail when hot, giving heat for a few minutes then cold air.
A gas dryer burner has two or three solenoid coils that hold its valve open. Their characteristic failure is heat-related: they work from cold, then drop out once the machine warms up, so the dryer heats for the first few minutes of a cycle and blows cold for the rest. Watching the burner shows the igniter glowing and the flame either never arriving or lighting briefly and dying. They are inexpensive and replaced as a kit.
