What is a pressure switch?
Senses water level through a small air hose to the tub; a kinked hose makes the machine over- or underfill.
The pressure switch does not touch the water at all. As the tub fills, air trapped in a dome at the bottom is compressed and pushed up a thin hose to the switch, which reads the pressure as a water level. If that hose kinks, splits or fills with soap scum, the machine is effectively blind to how full it is โ causing overfilling, underfilling, or phantom suds errors. Always check and clear the hose before replacing the switch.
