What is a pressure switch?
Senses water level through a small air hose to the tub. A kinked hose makes the machine over- or underfill.
The pressure switch does not touch the water at all. As the tub fills, air trapped in a dome at the bottom is compressed and pushed up a thin hose to the switch, which reads the pressure as a water level. If that hose kinks, splits or fills with soap scum, the machine is effectively blind to how full it is, causing overfilling, underfilling, or phantom suds errors. Always check and clear the hose before replacing the switch.
