📖 GLOSSARY · PART
What is a thermal fuse?
A one-shot safety fuse that blows permanently if the dryer overheats — and it never fails without a reason.
The thermal fuse is a sacrificial safety device in the heat circuit. When temperatures exceed a safe limit it opens permanently and the dryer tumbles without heat. Replacing it restores heating, but the fuse is a symptom, not the disease: it opened because airflow was restricted, almost always by a blocked vent or a lint-packed blower. Replace the fuse, then find and clear the restriction — and never, under any circumstances, bypass one.
