What is a vent restriction?
Lint build-up in the exhaust duct that slows drying, overheats the machine, and is a genuine fire hazard.
Restricted venting is the single most common cause of dryer problems and the most dangerous. Moist air cannot leave, so clothes tumble in their own humidity and take two or three cycles to dry. Temperatures rise where the lint is, which is exactly the fire scenario. Some machines report it directly — LG uses D80, D90 and D95 codes to state how blocked the duct is as a percentage. Rigid metal duct is required in concealed runs; vinyl and foil flex traps lint and can burn.
