What is a wiring harness?

Harnesses fail at flex points and at connectors. The classic example is the loom running through a refrigerator door hinge, which bends every time the door opens and eventually breaks a conductor — producing communication errors between the display and main board that look like a failed board and cost a fraction as much to fix. Flexing a suspect harness while the machine runs is a fast, free diagnostic.
