The control board reads sensors and switches loads on and off. It is the most over-diagnosed part in the trade: a shorted load, a broken wire or a bad ground all produce symptoms that look exactly like a dead board. Before condemning one, prove the load itself is good, check the harness and connectors, and confirm the board has correct supply voltage and grounds. Boards are expensive, frequently non-returnable once fitted, and often innocent.
