What is a carbon monoxide?
A colorless, odorless and potentially lethal gas produced by incomplete combustion in a poorly serviced gas appliance.
Carbon monoxide is the reason gas appliance work is treated so seriously. It is produced when combustion is incomplete, a badly adjusted air shutter, a blocked burner, or the wrong orifices for the fuel supply. It cannot be seen or smelled. Any gas service should leave the appliance burning cleanly with blue, well defined flames, and every home with gas appliances should have working CO alarms.
