What is a carbon monoxide?
A colourless, odourless and potentially lethal gas produced by incomplete combustion in a poorly serviced gas appliance.
Carbon monoxide is the reason gas appliance work is treated so seriously. It is produced when combustion is incomplete — a badly adjusted air shutter, a blocked burner, or the wrong orifices for the fuel supply. It cannot be seen or smelled. Any gas service should leave the appliance burning cleanly with blue, well-defined flames, and every home with gas appliances should have working CO alarms.
