Gas Burner Won’t Light — Repair Cost
Clicking with no flame, no clicking at all, a weak or yellow flame, or a burner that lights only from a neighbor’s flame. Cooktop burner problems are usually dirt before they’re parts.
National averages for independent repair companies. Service-call/diagnostic fees ($75–$150) are usually applied toward the repair. Costs vary by brand, model, and city.
What causes it — and what each fix costs
Clogged burner ports / gunked igniter
Boil-overs plug the flame ports and coat the spark electrode. Cleaning with a brush and a pin is the free fix that solves most of these.
Spark module or electrode failed
No click anywhere = module; no spark at one burner = that electrode.
Wet igniters after cleaning
Clicking for hours after washing the cooktop? Water in the igniters — they dry out in a day. Free.
Repair or replace?
Repair — usually just maintenance. Clean before you spend.

We'll quote you on hauling it away — or buying it.
Not every oven & range is worth repairing, and we'd rather tell you that than sell you a repair. If you're replacing it, we'll give you a free quote either way: scrap pickup for a machine that's finished, or a cash offer if it still has life in it. Working units, recent models and premium brands are often worth real money.
Common questions
My burner flame is yellow instead of blue — problem?
Yellow means incomplete combustion — dirty ports or a misaligned burner cap. Clean and reseat the cap; persistent yellow flames deserve a pro visit since they can soot and produce CO.
