What is an epa 608?
The federal certification legally required to handle refrigerants; household fridges fall under Type I.
Section 608 of the Clean Air Act makes it illegal to knowingly vent refrigerants during service, maintenance or disposal, and requires technicians handling them to be certified. Household refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioners and dehumidifiers with small factory charges fall under Type I certification; Universal covers all types. Any technician opening a sealed system on your refrigerator should hold it.
