What is a lint screen?

The lint screen catches the bulk of the lint every cycle and should be cleared each load. A diligent owner keeping the screen spotless can still have a badly restricted machine, because the screen only catches what makes it that far, the duct beyond and the blower wheel inside collect the rest. Fabric softener also leaves an invisible film on the mesh. If water poured on the screen beads rather than passing through, wash it.
