What is a lint screen?

The lint screen catches the bulk of the lint every cycle and should be cleared each load. A diligent owner keeping the screen spotless can still have a badly restricted machine, because the screen only catches what makes it that far — the duct beyond and the blower wheel inside collect the rest. Fabric softener also leaves an invisible film on the mesh; if water poured on the screen beads rather than passing through, wash it.
