Clogged exhaust vent
The most under-diagnosed "repair" in laundry. A professional vent cleaning restores drying times and removes the #1 dryer fire risk.
Dirty moisture sensor bars
Dryer-sheet film insulates the two metal bars inside the drum, so auto cycles think clothes are dry. Clean with rubbing alcohol — free.
Failed moisture sensor
If cleaning doesn’t fix auto-dry, the sensor or its thermistor can be replaced cheaply.
Weak heating element (partial short)

Run the dryer and feel the outside flap: strong, warm, steady airflow is healthy. Weak flow or a flap that barely opens means a clog. Also compare drying time with the vent hose disconnected (electric only, briefly) — a big difference confirms it.
