What is a vacuum pump?
Evacuates air and moisture from a sealed system before charging — the step that decides whether the repair lasts.
After a sealed system is opened and repaired, a vacuum pump pulls it down to a deep vacuum so that air and water vapour are removed before refrigerant goes in. The vacuum is verified with a micron gauge and a standing test. Rushing or skipping this leaves non-condensables and moisture in the system, which raises operating pressures and forms acids that destroy the new compressor.
