Noisy Washer — What Each Sound Costs to Fix
Washers narrate their failures — the sound tells you the part. Match your noise: rhythmic banging (suspension), jet-engine roar in spin (bearings), grinding in agitation (drive), rattling or coins clinking (pump/objects), squealing (belt).
National averages for independent repair companies. Service-call/diagnostic fees ($75–$150) are usually applied toward the repair. Costs vary by brand, model, and city.
What causes it — and what each fix costs
Object in the pump or between tubs
Coins, bra wires, and socks rattle, scrape, or click. Retrieving them from the pump filter is often free; fishing between tubs takes labor.
Suspension worn (banging)
See the shaking guide — rods or shocks.
Tub bearings (roaring)
See the bearing guide — the expensive noise.
Drive parts (grinding in agitation)
Splutch, coupling, or gearcase depending on platform.
Belt or idler (squealing)
See the belt guide.
Repair or replace?
Depends on the noise: everything except bearing roar and gearcase grind is a cheap fix. Those two on an old machine are the classic replacement triggers.

We'll quote you on hauling it away — or buying it.
Not every washer is worth repairing, and we'd rather tell you that than sell you a repair. If you're replacing it, we'll give you a free quote either way: scrap pickup for a machine that's finished, or a cash offer if it still has life in it. Working units, recent models and premium brands are often worth real money.
