What causes it — and what each fix costs
Water-level pressure switch or air-dome hose
If the machine never "sees" full, it fills (or waits) forever. A cracked air hose or fouled pressure port mimics an expensive failure for a cheap fix.
Inlet valve leaking through
Slow, unnoticed filling during wash keeps the level sensor from settling — cycles stretch enormously.
Mechanical timer (older machines)
Contacts burn and the motor that advances the dial dies. Timers are pricier than they look.
Control board
On electronic machines a stuck relay does the same thing.
Slow drain stretching cycles
A half-clogged pump filter makes every drain stage take triple time. Check the filter first — free.
