Evaporator iced over (defrost failure)

Evaporator fan weak/dead
No airflow to push cold upstairs.
Air damper stuck closed
The motorized flap that feeds the fridge never opens; the fridge slowly warms while the freezer thrives.
Blocked vents inside
A packed freezer smothers the vents. Free fix; give the vents two inches of clearance.
