What causes it — and what each fix costs
Clogged defrost drain
Defrost meltwater backs up over a gunked drain hole and runs into the fridge, then the floor. Clearing it with hot water (and a heater-wire "duckbill" fix on prone models) is the classic cheap repair.
Cracked/loose water supply line
The plastic line or its fittings behind the fridge weep. Cheap parts — but silent floor damage, so don’t defer it.
Inlet valve dripping
A valve that doesn’t fully seat drips constantly into the line or onto the floor.
Cracked drain pan or unlevel fridge
The evaporation pan under the fridge overflows if cracked or if the box tilts forward.
